Great Hunting Moments!

Don Cowan

Don Cowan

“I would like to thank Schnee’s for the great advice on Sitka Gear and their wonderful customer service for helping to make my first Elk hunt a complete success.  The advice given was right on and I had no concerns while in the field with the gear I had purchased.  I wore Sitka Gear exclusively and had core, thermal, 90% Pants and Jacket along with ColdFront system and two vests.

We had all weather conditions during the week from warm to 10 degree weather with rain, sleet, snow and of course some
beautiful clear skies.  With the Sitka Gear from Schnee’s I was able to adjust my layers and zippers to maintain my comfort and I was able to stay warm.

I also really liked the Schnee’s binocular harness system and the neoprene cover.  This system kept the binoculars under control and prevented them from bouncing around while on horseback and stalking.

Thanks,

Don Cowan”

Schnee’s Fenceline Vest

One of the great things about designing your own clothing line is that you own the entire process, from idea through execution- so all the hours spent designing, testing, re-designing and re-testing eventually produce a piece of merchandise that bears your name. Of all the “Made by Schnee’s” apparel that we’ve produced, the Fenceline Vest is one of our favorites. It looks good, it’s tough, and it’s durable. As we say in our catalog, the Fenceline Vest™ will stand up to all kinds of ranch work and look good doing it. It’s made from our rugged 11 oz. Fenceline Canvas™, which is tough as nails, but feels like you’ve worn it for years. It features a Teflon® finish to repel water and resist stains, without compromising its soft and durable texture. It features an interior breast security pocket and 8 functional outside pockets: four patch pockets, top and bottom, our deep Kangaroo pockets for storing your gear and for hand warmth, and another set of handwarmer pockets trimmed in genuine washable cowbelly leather for strength, comfort and to add character to the vest. It features a heavy duty brass zipper with a storm flap secured by our signature shotgun snaps. On the back, this vest features a hidden center pleat, a subtle western yoke, and our signature genuine washable leather hanging loop. We make the vest both lined and unlined, and the lined version of our Fenceline vest features top quality Portuguese flannel for exceptional warmth and comfort. We feel that the Fenceline Vest is the best canvas vest on the market.

You can find the Fenceline Vest in our catalog, on our website and at Schnee’s Powder Horn Outfitters in Bozeman, Montana.

The Schnee’s Montana Pac Boot has been a go-to pac boot for most of us for a long time. Because of the lace-less entry and easy to use velcro closure, the Schnee’s Montana is a great boot to keep by the front door or in the mud room, or to use going to and from work, or to wear every day once the ground gets a bit colder. Schnee’s Montana™ Pac Boots will keep your feet warm, and are great for early Fall through late Spring. Like the Hunter II, Schnee’s exclusive high-traction Goodyear Rubber Advantage™ outsole provides excellent traction on the Montana boot. Insulated with 400g Thinsulate™ Ultra Insulation, with a 3mm wool removable liner. Comfort Rated 0°F Inactive, -20°F Active. During the Fall Boot Sale at Schnee’s in Bozeman, the Schnee’s Montana pac boot is $20 off regular price. Click here to read about more features of the Schnee’s Montana Pac Boot.

Badlands Bino Vault

Badlands Packs makes some great hunting packs-  the Badlands 2200, the Monster Fanny Pack, the Super Day Pack… but there’s one item that most of us could definitely use: The Badlands Bino Vault. The Bino Vault uses a Zip/No system ( a series of numerous very small earth magnets woven into a seam) that allows a totally silent opening and closing, plus it has pockets on the inside, and extra holding areas on the sides (for a radio & GPS), plus there’s a built-in area on the shoulder harness for a 35-oz hydration bladder. Even if you’re not a hunter, the Bino Vault makes a lot of sense if you spend a lot of time in the outdoors and want a fairly minimal set-up to carry your gear. The Bino Vault retails for $60 and is available on the schnees.com website.

Travis Morris was in the Powder Horn Outfitters store conducting a clinic on all the Badlands Packs and was kind enough to help shoot this video of the Bino Vault system:

Stone Sheep – Mountain Goat Success

Just got these photos in from a Schnee’s customerer, Lic. Ignacio Martinez, who just returned from his succesful hunting trip to British Columbia in the Cassier Mountains. Mr. Martinez was hunting with Bradford & Company Outfitters the last 2 weeks in August.  Mr. Martinez reports:

“…regarding Sitka gear bought by me last month. Everything that I bought was incredible. The rain gear (Stormfront jacket and Pant) was perfect. Completely waterproof.  Thank you, and I will continue shopping with Schnees.

-Ignacio Martínez”

And now check out the photos of his Stone Sheep & Mountain Goat:
